How to Prepare for Your Spray Tan

To ensure the most even, long-lasting results, proper prep is key:

24–48 Hours Before:

• Exfoliate thoroughly using a non-oily scrub or exfoliating mitt

• Pay extra attention to dry areas (elbows, knees, ankles)

• Avoid oil-based products, as they can create a barrier on the skin

 

​Day of Your Appointment:

• Do not apply lotions, oils, deodorant, or perfume

• Arrive with clean, dry skin

• Wear loose, dark clothing and flip flops if possible

• Avoid shaving or waxing immediately before (ideally 24 hours prior)

After Your Spray Tan

Your tan will continue to develop over the next several hours—how you care for it matters!

​

Rinse Time:

• Your artist will recommend when to rinse based on the solution used

• Most tans are rinsed after 8–12 hours

• Rapid tans may be rinsed sooner (as early as 1–5 hours) for a lighter or deeper result

Before Your First Rinse:

• Avoid water, sweating, or any skin-to-skin contact

• Wear loose, dark clothing

• Do not apply lotions or products

First Rinse:

• Rinse with lukewarm water only (no soap)

• You may see bronzer washing off—this is normal

• Gently pat skin dry (no rubbing)

Maintaining Your Glow

To keep your tan looking fresh, radiant, and even for as long as possible:

​

• Moisturize daily with a high-quality, tan-safe lotion to support an even fade

• Avoid long, hot baths, saunas, and chlorine, as they can shorten the life of your tan

• Gently pat skin dry after showering instead of rubbing

• Avoid exfoliating until you're ready for your tan to naturally fade
